Buenos Aires, 13 - The Argentinean government expects to begin negotiations aimed at bypassing duties imposed by the United States administration on steel (25%) and aluminum (10%) imports. A meeting between the Argentinean Trade Secretary, Miguel Braun, and his U.S. counterpart, Wilbur Ross, is scheduled for today in Washington. The Argentinean official will state the reasons why the U.S. duties should not target the country's products. "We must be clearer about the procedure to be applied by the U.S. to fine-tune the arguments" that are going to be presented, Braun said in an interview with the Ambito Financiero newspaper. At the beginning of the week, the Argentinean President Mauricio Macri spoke with his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump about the duties. According to the Casa Rosada statement, Macri expressed to Trump his concern about the potential negative effect of those measures. In response, the U.S. President affirmed his commitment to evaluate Argentina's exception of any restrictive measure that affects exports of both products to the United States.
