Bogotá, 20 - Stephane Dujarric, spokesman for the United Nations Secretary General, expressed concern about the latest developments in Venezuela due to clashes between government officials and opponents. In a statement, he urged that every effort is made to reduce tensions and prevent further clashes. The UN called on the government of Nicolás Maduro and the opposition to make a sincere commitment to reactivate dialogue efforts, especially on the critical issues they have already agreed to place on the agenda, including balancing power between branches of State, establishing an electoral calendar, taking care of the socio-economic situation. Dujarric called for concrete gestures from all sides to reduce polarization and create conditions to face Venezuela's challenges in the best interest of the people.
